This tastes much better if you decant it. Then lovely flavours of blackberry jubes and mulberries push forward - against a surprisingly strong tide of tannin. There's a lot to chew on here and we like that. Great purity through the finish, though it needs to be accompanied by a serving of protein.

TOP AUSSIE RED - This is a commendable Barossa Valley red at a very drinkable price. It has coffee and mocha-like aromas and is slightly oak-driven in style but it has pleasing flavour and weight, finishing with a lick of astingency. A value wine. Now to five years. 88/100. Food Barbeque rissoles.

The impressively fresh blackcurrant characteristics carry a touch of dusty complexity. A very richly flavoured, truly varietal wine with the power and structure for ageing. An amazing Barossa Cabernet at an amazing price. Excellent value.

We gave last year's release 90 points, and this comes ever so close to the same rating. Maybe we're just feeling stingier this year. It's got grip and grunt, dark blackberried flavour and a fresh, clean finish. There's some toasty, coffeed oak here but it's well in check - it's a smart display of winemaking. A tasty drop - one we'd be happy quaffing.

Medium-plus in weight and showing character from start to finish, this represents very good value. The fruit is well extracted and nicely layered, and it’s paired with well-pitched acidity to produce a texture that’s refreshing and clean on the finish. It’s a natural of grilled lamb and other red meats.
